Trout Hotel Cockermouth Commercial Photography North East

Trout Hotel Cockermouth Commercial PhotographyThe trout hotel was victim to the vicious floods that hit Cockermouth in November 2009. The effects on the beautiful hotel were devastating. After a major re vamp and a lot of hard work the hotel re opened in May last year. They have undergone quite a large re fit within the hotel; it was our job to document this for their new website and brochures. The job came to us through Better Brand Agency who have been working hard to create the branding around such a beautiful hotel.

The brief entailed us capturing shots of all the hotel suits, restaurants, bar areas, lounges, and employees.

Keith always ensures he knows exactly what the client envisages from the shoot

It’s essential we understand where the images are being used, who will see them, what message the hotel wishes to get across to their audience. From here we can tailor images around the look and feel of the hotel” Keith Moss – Owner Keith Moss Photography.

One of the main points on the brief was that many shots had a narrow depth of field focusing on an object such as a door handle, leading the viewers eye beyond the door.

It’s all about pointing people where you want them to look, a narrow depth of field means the object closest to your eye is very much in focus whilst the background is blurred, this leads the viewer to look at the object before their eyes wonder further. The opposite is always used, so the point furthest away is in focus whilst the objects closest to the eye is blurred, techniques such as these are often used in marketing material and it’s something we love doing Keith Moss

During the shoot Keith used his Leica M9 concentrating on capturing entire room sets to create the feeling of accurate size. Claire, using the Nikon D3 with a 70-210 F2.8  lens captured intricate detailed images which add to the ambience of the hotel.

Keith and I are a great team, for some reason I’m drawn to smaller detail such as fabrics, textures, and close intricate shots. I love the 70-210 F2.8 Lens as it picks up on the smallest detail. Keith is exceptional at seeing a room in its entirety and getting amazing angles to complement any room set, I’m usually found in a corner at this stage taking close up shots of flowers, cushions, chairs, or textured stone walls. I love framing objects up which may seem ordinary such as the end of a couch with a cushion and a lamp……..strange but I suppose someone has to love these things  Claire Ledder creative consultant / Photographer and Stylist Keith Moss Photography

As lunch was thrown in for us it would be rude not to point out how amazing that was! Although the highlight was the little biscuits served with the coffee.

An amazing Hotel, Beautiful Food, rooms with a lake side view, and friendly staff it’s a hotel we would certainly recommend.
